Is it Superstition?

Superstitions centering around the black cat are some of the most well-known and popular superstitions today. It is interesting, though, because the good or bad luck they possess is dependent on where you live in the world. In Britain and Japan, having a black cat cross your path, is considered good luck, whereas if you live in the USA or several European countries, it is bad luck to have a black cat walk by.

Walking under a ladder after a black cat has walked underneath it.

Is it an Issue of Uniqueness?

Are Black Kitties just too typical in appearance or too plain in the minds of people before they can show off their charm?..  As a rescue, we can tell you that  Black kitties are far from Typical. They may not have the variances and draw in appearance as other kitties,  but  Black kitties  are charmed and their treat is their quite atypical, highly attractive personality. Each and every one which we  encounter seems to possess a highly intelligent, brave, gregarious, and affectionate character setting them apart from the others----Always!

All cats are intriguing, intelligent and independent creatures. The black cat, however, has its own identity amongst the cat population. Its popularity has waxed and waned amazingly over times past. It is a breed that is affectionately regarded in the main but it has also achieved notoriety, and the effect of its chequered history is still apparent today. The black cat is considered to be an omen of (confusingly) either good or bad luck, depending on who you believe. Personally I would prefer it to be the former, as my two black cats have certainly spread some luck about in their time!
