Save the Kitties, Inc, (STK) is a Florida-based non-profit corporation for animal welfare. STK organized out of the Hurricane "Katrina" animal disaster in October 2005 and rallied grass-roots rescue efforts into Spalding County Animal Shelter, a rural high kill gas shelter in GA with a mission to decrease the massive numbers of healthy kitties needlessly & inhumanely gassed daily; Promote spay/neuter; and To assist with shelter reform; ultimately, contributing to the universal goal of eliminating the "kill" concept in our animal shelters and providing "SOCIETY'S" unfortunates with a chance, as all life deserves. Save the Kitties, Inc was a pioneer in this effort paving new paths and connections that have expanded and remain strong today.
In Memory Of "Fritter" She now Rests in Green pastures As of 2007, STK still holds strong to the value of rescue and participates in direct rescue activities, however, STK will be devoting more efforts to Animal Advocacy and Activism in the future which will hopefully assist in broadening public awareness and changing negative perspectives and/or policies that may help bring about real solutions to the problems of animal injustice, over-breeding, over-population, and inhumane euthanasia.
"Jiggy" STK Gas Rescue Adopted and Home at Last! In Essence, STK remains proactive for rescues with a moving mission towards Advocacy. All States have animal over-population problems. Rescue is noble but space, time, and money run out all too fast; thus, empowerment of locals, access to low cost effective Spay/Neuter programs, and assistance from state and local governments are key in every area to effectively handle the problem at home. As a cohesive group, we can find good solutions and outcomes for the voiceless and deserving animals waiting desperately for change in the dark, forgotten shadows of our society.
